What format to use for DVD

Hi,

I’m very new to using this software, I have found the tutorials and UI to be very helpful. I’m simply trying to trim old home movies for my mother, then burn them to a DVD so she can watch. I’m having a very difficult time determining what codec to use or what format to put the files in when I export. I have tried trial and error but I’m getting really frustrated. I’m using plain old dvd+r’s, I’m on Windows 10, using Shotcut Verision 18.01.02. Any assistance is greatly appreciated - the videos will mean a lot to my mother as my father has passed and she would like to view the videos and relive old memories. Thank you,
