Is My Laptop good enough to handle Shotcut?

Please let me know if my laptop specs meet requirements to even handle Shotcut. Thanks

Windows 10. 8gb Ram. i5 2.6ghz cpu.

I use sony a6000 and am only going to work with 1080 (not 4k).

Im still unsure if my i5 3rd generation cpu can handle 1080 in shotcut. If you think my laptop specs can handle it then i will download it n give it a try. Another option is i buy a 2022 version of shotcut off ebay (or find a free download link to 2022 version) that will work with my laptop..

Let me know what u think if my laptop will handle shotcut if i do the right settings and use proxy ect.

Everyone’s computer software environment is different than the next. From what programs they run or don’t run. So many variables into if you think your laptop is good enough.

You can download any version of Shotcut for free here:

This link is always displayed on the download page.

You will need to test Shotcut out for yourself to determine if it suits your needs. It may be a bit slow in what you think it should be doing.

Many people use Preview Scaling & Proxy Editing to help with editing on older hardware.

Should work fine. I’ve used even less powerful. It depends on the size/length of the video you’re going to be rendering. BUT - just don’t have anything else, particularly a Browser running. Particularly when rendering. Before rendering, on my old slow machine, I’d shut-down/restart, and check in Task Manager that dregs of a Browser aren’t running (like Edge does all the time).
