zoom 1000 large vertical size

Hi, i have an image with regular horizontal size but a very large vertical size. The idea is to scroll up and down.

When i load the image it fits into the screen resulting in a very small horizontal size. I then use the Size Position & Rotate filter and set the size to 1920 (it sets the correct vertical size automatically).

I notice the zoom goes to 1000%. Is that normal? I was expecting 100%. Also the image is only sharp with size mode set to fit. Would be nice if i could still use zoom but now it’s maxed out…

Hi,
be aware that zooming 1000% does mean a short term 10*10 memory usage per frame by Shotcut.
A recent post did deal with similar problems:

Yes. 100% shows you everything. You are incorrectly considering only one dimension: horizontal.

Well so far no problems with exporting (32gb ram).

First of all, thank you for Shotcut, I’m new to it but really like it.

When i use an image viewer and select zoom 1:1 it displays like i expect (horizontal fit) but this is actually a very large zoom level just like Shotcut’?

In Shotcut the 100% is relative to what it will resize it initially into because it is more useful this way to have a “clean” starting point (well, it is I guess subjective and some could prefer 100% = original size but then for regular photos you want them to fill the screen so it will have weird 37.2% default size to match the screen area).

Sometimes i think it might be handy to let the user decide what is 100 percent, if possible.
