Windows 11 computer Screen keeps freezeing when trying to export a video

As you read from the title every time I try to export my video, My PC’s screen its self freezes, this doesn’t occur with any other applications. This is a brand-new computer if I could get any help it would be appreciated.

Freezing might be an indicator too less RAM. Have you tried to change the export settings and always getting the same result?

If this is the case for you, you can try to export the video using melt directly without the GUI or you have to split up your video in parts, export them separately with the same video export settings and combine the videos together.

Bring up the performance screen of Task Manager and when the screen freezes you’ll see if any resources have hit their limit.

ok so I don’t know what the issues was but I completely shut down my computer and its working now

Keep in mind memory usage can have peaks in µs to ms this is not always shown in any task manager. One GB free RAM in Taskmanager is definitely in the danger zone.
Sadly Shotcut does have some memory leaks. If you have low RAM it sometimes makes sense to save the project and restart Shotcut before continuing, especially after deleting many parts or start exporting big projects.

Have you tried to reboot the computer since you experienced this? Rebooting the computer can solve many strange problems.

Yes, a few years ago I helped a user whose job continually crashed when exporting. He sent me his project and I tried a couple of experiments to get it to work. See:

Also take note of Dan’s advice in the following post of that topic.

Absolutely. Before using SHOTCUT, I do a restart. And if it’s a big video, I restart before exporting.

Never use a Web Browser while either editing or exporting. And if you have to get something off the internet, restart the computer before going back to SHOTCUT.
