.wma files not playing properly? Cracking and screeching

Hi.

So I put a song in Shotcut because I want to add lyrics to it, but, although the song plays perfectly well on my computer in any music player, putting it in Shotcut makes it ‘pop’ with screech-like noise. It’s like the software can’t render the songs properly…

Can you post a screenshot of the “Audio” tab on the “Properties” panel when you open the clip in Shotcut?

Seems to work fine here.
What are the properties of your .WMA files?

Here’s an example of mine that play just fine in Shotcut 18.01.02

Yes, still same problem.
Version 20.07.11, timeline is linear like voice but actual sound is cracking and screeching sometimes. Audio was made in Windows 7 Recording application. It is small voice note.

Use Properties > Convert
