Videos Never Keep Original Quality?

I feel like an idiot I’ve been sitting here looking around for hours for some kind of clear answer and I can’t find any that fixes my issue.
I have a 1920x1080 source video, I put it into Shotcut, I export at the exact same ratio and it acts like the source video was way smaller and it had to blow it up.

What am I doing wrong, please. I’ve gone through different codecs, I’ve fiddled with every setting and knob and dial I’m going to go insane this should not be this difficult.

What do you mean that it acted like it was “way smaller and it had to blow it up”?

Click on the Output track header. Go to the Properties panel and send us the dimensions for the timeline. My guess is that the timeline is set for something lower than 1920x1080.
