typewriter effect breaks when clip is moved/edited

what I do:

  • created a clip - plain black color
  • apply a typewriter text effect to the clip
  • play the clip → works

what happens:

  • when I drag the clip a few frames longer or cut off a few frames, the typewriter effect breaks
  • e.g. the typewriter animation starts at the wrong time
  • or doesnt’ start at all (text completely displayed w/o animation)
  • or the text is full displayed at the beginning at the clip, then disappears and the animation effect starts at a random time in the clip.

However I noticed that when I type in the text again, the effect seems to be recalculated but not sure if this is the expected behavior.

I’m pretty new to Shotcut so I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if this is a bug… is there a certain sequence I have to follow? any ideas anybody?

I just tested it, and I did not reproduce it.

hey thanks for testing,

as mentioned, deleting and re-typing the text into the text field seems to be a workaround for me. I’ll try to make a screen recording next time when I come across this.
