Slow while working

Hello,

I am a very beginner with Shotcut.

My first question:

As far I use f.e. 5 Tracks (only 18 sec) the video in the control window is that slow that I can not really work.

(iMac 3.4 GHz i7, 16GB DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB)

Is there some main settings to do to see it comfortable?

Thanks

Have you tried Preview Scaling? It’s under “Settings”.

You can also try unseting the option Settings->Realtime (frame dropping).

Thanks for your help - but it still runs like slow-motion

Maybe ‘Convert to edit friendly’ for your clips helps?

Another possibility is “Proxy Editing”, where you actually edit a lower resolution version of your video(s), then when you come to export you replace the low resolution versions with the originals. This can speed things up considerably. But you should know what you are doing first as some filters may not work correctly when you go back to the originals. See this (long) thread: Shotcut proxy videos auto creation auto replace tool for fast smooth editing and this one too: Multi-format editing
