I used the standard “mask from file” filter in Shotcut with the standard parameter “concentric_cones_5_true(1920x1080.png”:

Clock transition [linear with time]

… remembering that the standard SC “Clock Top” transition does not give a truly linear effect:

I found a bug - not a software bug, but I noticed that when I apply a “Clock Top” transition to 2 clips, the result is not linear - ie there is a definite speeding up of the effect in quadrants 2 and 4.
