same question again: How to add text

I see plenty of videos answering this question,

… but video makes eyes and hears tired and does not help …. It is probably all outdated. I use version 26.
I would appreciate to quick and simple WRITTEN explanation or documentation, in 3 lines, on how to add some texts.

Like : goto menu “abc” > submenu “bcd”
clicl the cross or plus on the left, etc …
