24.10.29…Sorry Guys…I’m a bit thick here (that’s normal). If I have numerous clips on the timeline, all with a transition. How do I delete one of the clips and replace with another which may be longer or shorter and have everything connect again including the transitions
I should remake the transition … open a new track and place the new video and following video and move all to existing track and move following video to right till set the space to place new video/transition … because the new is longer than old video and as it is now shotcut cut the new video to the lenght of old video , ok ?
Timeline > menu > Edit > Replace (also in the clip context menu) uses what is in Source as the source of that operation. It is sensitive to the in point set in Source so you can choose the starting point of the replacement.
Did you know you can search the forum and separately Shotcut’s UI: Help > Actions and Shortcuts > search. You can also trigger the actions from that dialog:
I still can’t get it, sorry. As an example lets say I want to replace img 2142 with img 2143 or any other clip in the playlist. I can do it ok but the new inserted img 2143 or whatever clip I want o insert is now only as long as img 2142 was. Can I do it somehow so it slots in at the correct length of the new clip and everything just join up.
That is the design behavior of Replace. If you want more or different you need to do more steps using and of the several editing commands included.
After doing Replace, you can easily change the clip length by trimming it with Ripple turned on, even if the clip has a transition.
Now that’s it… I got it. Thanks a lot
