Problems

Hi guys:
I’m new here and I would like to know the requirements of shotcut for windows, because whenever I’m editing the image freezes and the audio scrolls, as if the computer gets very slow and doesn’t work well.
My computer has:
AMD A6-9220(2X2.5GHZ) processor.
VEL. TURO PROCESSOR: 2.9GHZ
HARD DISK: 1TB
RAM: 8GB
GRAPHIC CARD: AMD RADEO R4
OPERATING SYSTEM: WINDOWS 10

Minimum requirements:

To sort your problem you might try preview scaling:

If that doesn’t work you might have to use proxy file editing, see:

I’m running on a close cousin to that chip, A8-5500B, same base speed, slightly faster boost clock (“VEL. TURO”) on Kubuntu Linux.

My experience:

  • The Radeon R4 GPU built-in to the CPU by AMD gained me absolutely nothing with Shotcut. (So I added a GPU in an open PCIe slot.)
  • 8GB of RAM is barely enough, or not quite enough. I had to upgrade to 20 GB to get reasonable performance.
  • 2cores/2threads - stop the bus, I want to get off. My AMD A8-5500 CPU has 4 threads, the absolute minimum at those CPU speeds.

I have found Preview Scaling and Proxy (both at 540p) to be a lifesaver. Using both is the only way I can avoid the symptoms you mention.
