Not happy with the latest Update!

I have to zoom into an exaggerated degree to select small clips, which makes a once simple task a giant pain in the ass. The only thing hoovering over the clip does now is resize it. This didn’t happen until the latest update.

It changed to fix a bug when trimming down to a small size and it caused this side effect.

I made a change for the next version to eliminate the side effect and fix this.

Dan, you see, what surprises me is that the app image grew so much. Going from 100 MB to 250 MB. I would like it to stay light, like the Avidemux. It’d be best not to order so many things for Christmas.
Maybe the solution would be to integrate that text-to-speech with an external application, like OpenShot does with Blender
:bulb:although I was thinking of deleting the file from the folder :heavy_heart_exclamation:
../../../../shotcut/usr/bin/share/shotcut/whisper_models

Only when you compare between a version from a few years ago to today. This thread is about one particular aspect of version 25.03.

Then, use the build from your distribution, and work with them to make sure it works good.

I took a look a the Kdenlive feature before doing Shotcut’s, and it is a nightmare to setup and get working for the average user.

Shotcut’s builds are so-called “batteries included.” We chose a modest size whisper model that still gives good results for at least some languages. Another reason for the increased size is the integration of Glaxnimate. At the time it was added it was largely unknown, not packaged by most distros, and its various builds not-so-good. Yet, these functionalities are rather basic and expected in a modern video editor. However, we cannot continue to offer future heavy AI models like this.

Things have changed since. Glaxnimate is now included in more distros, and moved into KDE. That will provide better portable downloads but added KDE dependencies that I do not want to include. This is forcing me to, by the end of the year, not include Glaxnimate. We are working on an add-on system to offer downloads. The downside is that disintegration complicates things like Flatpak, which makes it difficult to find another executable to launch (it prefers flatpak run ...). This might also create more of a burden with respect to security. Not 100% sure it will happen.

OK Dan, I didn’t find anything similar, but I did discover those KDEnlive things that Shotcut has hidden, like generators. I’m not sure if that works like “Font Awesome,” but I’ve never liked it, and they also change the shortcuts in new versions.
Regarding “Flatpak” vs. “Snap,” I’d stick with appimages. Why complicate things? Just download and run. They’re portable, work on any distribution, and save a lot of disk space.
Anyway, I imagine that everyone has their own gallery for their projects, the emoji at hand that they need daily.
I tried the text-to-speech thing, and at least it seemed to run as smoothly and as quickly as the stabilization, but from what I see, it’s only available in English. Now, Instagram’s subtitles are so good that, in the worst case scenario, you can upload the video and then download it, removing it from the social network.

Wait, will it be there another way to mask or something I misunderstood here?

No it means you will need to download Glaxnimate separately or through or add-on UI.

If I understand clearly, this means Glaxnimate will be more like a plugin right?
