More flexibility with multi-track audio videos

I have some ideas for working with multi-track audio in ShotCut. I’m thrilled it can actually use this, and it will help with video production in the future

I have recently configured OBS along with a Windows audio loopback driver, to use multiple tracks for different things, track 1: all audio, 2: just system audio, 3: Discord 4: mic

But for editing in ShotCut, I had some ideas that might increase flexibility with using this

For example, editing one track in particular. Currently you can select from a drop-down which audio track you want which is fine, but if you just want to eliminate one track, like maybe just your mic, you have to select the main one and detach audio for the ones that are left, I wonder if an option that uses tick boxes might help here, by default Track 1 is selected, but if all I want to just turn off one of them, I could only deselect the tracks I didn’t want, and select the ones I did, and that’s it done

Another thing that could be an idea, is for audio effects, something like for the gain filter, it could have option whereby, default, it acts on all tracks (or maybe just track 1), but again you could specifically select a track to affect (maybe an approach is taken, where the filter behaves as it does, using a radio button, or you can go into discreet track selection with another)

That is all I can think of for now

The first suggestion cannot work with Shotcut’s architecture. Each clip object can only have one audio track in Properties. The only way it can mix audio is when there are parallel clips on multiple tracks. What could possibly be helpful is to somehow expand upon Detach Audio to let you select which of multiple (checkboxes) to detach at once. Plus an option to group all of detached clips with the original.

You can already attach filters to timeline tracks and the entire mixed timeline (Output in the top, left corner of the timeline). In fact, some filters can only be used on the track. Click a track header to select it and go to the Filters panel.
The next version automates this for gain by adding a volume slider to the track header.

And the Adjustment Clip feature in that next version is another way to add audio filters across all of the tracks–an alternative to Output filters with a different control over the time range.
