How do I create clips cut from a video in shotcut into files

I have fairly large movies that I want to take clips from. Is there any way other than trimming everything but the clip and rendering it using export to get it into a file format? I would like to go through the timeline and marker the clips and somehow export the marked clip(s) as separate files for use later in shotcut.

You can maybe set them in the playlist tab and then go to export and export the playlist…

I’m not a long time user of shotcut so maybe someone more experienced will give you a better answer…
