Gradually slow down time - slow motion

My daughter and I were watching a YouTube channel that shows motion slow down to still. Is there a way to gradually ramp up or ramp down the speed of footage?

Yes. Try these filters:

Speed: Forward Only Time Filter

This filter is similar to Time Remap but can be easier to use. It does not usually require converting the clip first unlike Time Remap and Speed: Forward & Reverse. [Screenshot Speed: Forward Only filter] This filter first appeared in version 23.05.14.

Time Remap Filter

The Time Remap filter is the first filter that allows altering the timing of the underlying source clip. It maps clip time to output time. The Time Remap filter is the most advanced. But it probably takes a little more practice. The Speed Forward filter is probably the simplest to get you going.

You weren’t joking! Those solutions are great but there sure are some tricks to using them nicely right out of the box. Thanks for the pointers. I hadn’t looked into the handbook of manual for what ships with Shotcut - with 2D and 3D, I tend to think of Filters as 2D overlays for appearance. This was an eye opener.
