For OBS, I think some people have had best success recording microphone and game audio in separate tracks so that you can adjust the audio levels of each in Shotcut.

I just recorded a .mkv video with OBS Studio 25.0.8 (64-bit). After recording, I used the remux feature to get a .mp4 file. Because of my settings, I have the .mkv file have my mic audio, while the .mp4 file has the desktop audio. I confirmed this by playing them seperately.
However, when I put them both in Shotcut 20.06.28 (64-bit), both files play the mic audio.
Why do they do this? Is there a way to fix this? Is this an OBS or Shotcut-related problem?
So I’ve been looking for ways to improve my audio quality, and one of the best ways appeared to be recording separate audio tracks. As such I’ve begun to do exactly that, recording my mic on one and my desktop on another so that editing would (in theory) then be that much easier and I could keep the audio levels properly done, as well as transfer them into wav files so audacity could edit them further as needed (Audacity’s ability to cap off the audio smoothly is something I have yet to find a w…
