My message from about March 2021:
Hi there, when I close a project in Shotcut, NOT closing Shotcut, and try to delete the files I used in the former closed project from the harddisk, Windows gives a message that the files are still in use by Shotcut. The only workaround is to quit Shotcut and start it again which is annoying.I feel.
Maybe You can solve this problem, thank you!

Not sure, but could be a windows problem. The program that used the file is still open and windows doen’t know if you might need it again in that program - i suppose. But the developers may answer that correctly if its due to SC.

As I said on an earlier post, the the used files from a project, even after closing that project, remain “linked” to the program, and they can’t be deleted from disk, while the program is running, or what is the same, I must close the program to be able to delete these files from the disk. Windows 10 Home 64 bit 20.11.28 So I open a video file, do some edits and then press CTRL-W (to close the project). It’s gone. Now, I open another video file and work on it. If I try to delete the video file from earlier (using any file manager), Windows tells me it is still being used by Shotcut. It’s very annoying.
