I have problems with the latest version (24.09.13) when adding files to the playlist as they are recognized as variable frame rate, when they were recorded with fixed frame rate at 30 fps.
The same file uploaded to the version I was using until now (22.04.25) does not give problems and recognizes it as fixed FPS (at 30.004942).
All my videos are recorded with the same iphone application (ProMovie) and never gave problems in previous versions of Shotcut.
In this version ALL the videos give the same problem of variable FPS.
Basically, that isn’t a standard frame rate. It is a fraction that comes from division of total frames versus seconds when there is variable frame rate involved. Apple phones (and pretty much all smartphones) always record as VFR out of necessity.
ProRes on Apple phones may be different (I haven’t tested or researched it). But if that were true for this case, there wouldn’t be a decimal number behind the frame rate.
Yes, but previous versions of Shotcut (e.g. 20.09.27 and 22.04.25) allowed me to add, edit and process them without any problems. And It did not detect those videos as having variable FPS.
In the new version, it asks me to convert the file before I can do anything.
That means loss of time and loss of quality.
Yes. Click “Cancel” in that dialog box. And if you are REALLY sure you never want to do a conversion, you can check the box that says “Do not show this anymore”.
Thank you all,
Sorry Austin, I didn’t realize it was a link and your reply looked like a question related to my case.
Now that you said it, I looked at the link and it is indeed the answer I was looking for.
