Enabling Ripple Edit in Shotcut

How do I enable Ripple Edit in Shotcut to automatically close gaps between clips after cutting? :light_bulb:

@MusicalBox @jonray @brian

Did you already try this?

Yes but didnt work for me, this cuts the footage where I put a clip or image.

I am not sure Ripple is the right word to use. But to make clip 2 to come to clip 1, automatically after i trimmed it.

Shift+I to ripple trim in

Shift+O to ripple trim out

If you are splitting, lifting, and removing the gap; that is the novice slow way. If you want to continue to split clips then Ripple Delete (Shift+Backspace) the part you no longer want.

Thanks, Just tried it out. It’s exactly what I was looking for thanks so much.

Ripple edit is definitely a game-changer once it clicks! Just a quick tip for anyone else finding this: if you find yourself accidentally moving clips on other tracks, make sure you haven’t accidentally toggled ā€˜Ripple All Tracks’ (the icon with the multiple lines). I usually keep that off and only use the standard ā€˜Ripple’ (the single line icon) to keep things under control. It saves so much cleanup time!
