Hello,
I have the current version 24.09.13 and the problem is that I can no longer set the resolution of my finished work. The fields “Resolution” as well as “Aspect ratio” and “Images/sec” are grayed out. I always used the function to set e.g. exactly 1920x1080. This is no longer possible. What do I have to do to be able to use the buttons again?
Oh, yes, I know that my source has a lower resolution. I film short clips from a virtual box - which I only have open in window mode. This is what causes the odd values. In the end, however, I want to have a 1920x1080 video. I am aware that the quality suffers - but in my case it doesn’t matter.
The recommended way to do this is to set the Video Mode on your project. Not the export resolution settings.
It’s not just quality that suffers. It can also result in unexpected padding for aspect ratio changes. This is why we added an extra step to help people to better understand the tradeoff of using these settings.
Is there a reason you can’t change the Video Mode instead?
Hello, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, after changing the video mode of a project, I can no longer use nvenc codec. Depending on the size of the project, the export takes an extremely long time. If I don’t change the video mode, the nvenc codec work without any problems (e.g. h264_nvenc), but if I select libx264 instead, the export works. I’ll wait for the next version of Shotcut and see how it’s implemented there. That will probably solve my problem.
