Beta version 25.01: playlist bins, search playlist by media type or text, file system browser with search by media type or text, Gradient Map filter, HSL Primaries filter, HSL Range filter, a Type parameter for Fade In/Out Audio, Windows/Arm HW-encode.
Thanks for the new filters, features and fixes.
Some comments after my first tests:
I’m on Windows 10 and using the portable BETA version.
Playlist Panel
-
In Details view, there is a Type column. In Playlist > Menu > Columns, Type is absent from the menu. Maybe intentional?
-
After creating a new Bin, if I want to delete or rename it, these options are always grayed in Menu > Bins or when right-clicking on the bin.
-
Also about Bins: After creating a new Bin in a project, if I save then Exit & relaunch Shotcut, there are now copies of the default Duplicates and Not in Timeline bins in the Bins tab
Filters
Gradient Map: Changing the Stops colors doesn’t work for me.
Installed presets are working though. But editing a preset parameters doesn’t work.
Another comment:
In the Not in Timeline view, it would be convenient, if possible, to have the Playlist automatically refresh the list as soon as we add items to the Timeline. Also when removing them from the Timeline…
Currently, one way to refresh the view is to switch between bins.
Thanks your testing! This is fixed for the release.
The reported issues with playlist bins have been fixed.
Feedback to the bins
- Duplicates: I like it!
- new Bin: if the side panel of the bins is not open, there is no reaction when clicking on new bin in the bottom bar. I would change that to improve the UX.
- “Rename Bin” and “Remove Bin” are greyed out and not working.
- I cannot add a file/clip (from the “All” bin) to a newly created bin. I can drag and drop, but the bin is still empty
fixed
It is disabled until Bins are opened, but disabled is difficult to see in the dark theme. But I added this.
I find the Files panel VERY useful. Great new feature !!
Love that we can add favorite folders in the Location menu.
But I found a small bug: On Icon view, the panel on the right (the one showing the files) doesn’t automatically adapt to the content of the opened folder.
Steps to reproduce:
- Switch to the Icons view.
- Open a folder with only a few files in it.
- Close the List of Filters tab.
- From the Location drop down menu, choose a folder with much more files.
No scroll bar. You can’t navigate down to view the remaining files.
To make the scroll bar appear, open (or open and close) the List of Filters tab.
Now go back to the folder with just a few files. You can now scroll way down, where there isn’t any files. Toggle List of Files again to adapt the view to the content.
What is the intent of the Gradient Map?
Using thr gradient mask adjustments, can you use it to mask parts of a video?
Not a mask, a colorization of the brightness levels.
Feedback to the Files panel:
- Would be good to have the possibility to remove default folders, too. Currently it is only possible to remove the ones added by myself
- Feature suggestion: How awesome would it be to mark automatically the files which are already used in the playlist (e.g. add a background color)
- I have all my files on a NAS, the load times are longer, Shotcut did not respond anymore. So I had to force closing it
Bonjour,
Le filtre gradient, chez moi n’a pas Blend mode et over, dodge
meme avec la mise a jour…
Je suis sur windows 10.
Quand au filtre gradient map je ne peux rien modifier et les couleur de la video sont en noir et blanc
Hello
The gradient filter, at home doesn’t have Blend mode and over, dodge
even with the update…
I’m on windows 10.
As for the gradient map filter I can’t change it and the colors of the video are in black and white
Je me suis trompé, je l’utilise si peu souvent,
que j’ai cru qu’il n’etait pas a jour.
I was wrong, I use it so infrequently, that I thought
it was not up to date.
This is fixed for the release. Thanks.
How long did you wait before killing it? There is a performance issue in the app library with long directories that is worse on NAS. I have tried to make something to show it is loading, but I could not get it to work. I will have to give it another go. So, next time be more patient if you did not wait more than several seconds.
It was at least 2mins.
I updated the beta on the beta release page in the top post to include many of the basic fixes necessary to test the new features further. It is now at version 25.01.05
