All markers disappeared (after about ~100?)

Shotcut 26.02.26, Windows 10 x64

//see post 2

Is there a limit to the number of markers? I reached 121 and then fully lost everything before it. I don’t have any reproduction steps or something, currently just trying to get them back. I can see in the history panel that at some point I split a clip and just started counting from “Marker 1” again. I tried hitting undo to hopefully get them back but no old markers appear.

There were some undo/redo at around that point but I don’t remember exactly as I noticed 10 minutes later.

Sadly my last backup is from ~3.5 hours ago even though I have checked “hourly” backups and I have shotcut open for at least 5 hours.

Oh wow, I managed to replicate this completely by mistake:

  • add a 20 second color clip on new project
  • add some random markers on the first 10s of the timeline
  • split the clip somewhere AFTER all the markers, like at second 15
  • [ripple needs to be enabled]
  • move the 2nd part of that split clip to the right (making a gap basically)
  • hit undo, BAM, no markers

Backup does not auto-save on a timer; it is triggered only when you save. It automates File > Backup and Save.

Oh, so it’s triggred by manual save? Ok, but anyway, I definitely saved at least once an hour yet there was no backup created (I do it way too often, probably every 5 minutes depending on what edits I’m doing). I’ll try to pay attention to it now because I think there’s way less backup files than I expect for “hourly” setting.

Thanks for the excellent steps to reproduce. This is fixed for the next release.
