I’m using Ubuntu on a 14" laptop with a 4K screen, so I want to scale the text (the icons are fine). Right now I need to squint to see anything - the interface text is tiny.
Is there a way to do this from Shotcut, or do I need to mess with Qt?
You might try with --QT_SCALE_FACTOR 2 command line option. However, I have found Qt - especially our bundled version - is not so good with HiDPI on Linux. Your mileage may vary.
