Windows 11 compatibility issues in 2025

I’ve seen some references to compatibility issues with Windows 11 but nothing particularly current. I’ve just bought a new computer and would like to continue to use shotcut on it but after installing it and trying to run it I get an error message saying this app can’t run on your pc. I’m using Windows 11 version 24H2.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help that can be provided.

It works fine. Maybe you downloaded the wrong thing such as the wrong CPU architecture or something that is not Shotcut (such as clicking through an Advertisement and getting something else). Our download page makes it very clear which download is for which CPU. There are no known compatibility issues.

Thanks for your response. I was encouraged by its certainty to try again for the third time. It worked! The one thing I did do differently was not tick the box to open Shotcut at end of the installation process but rather opened it for the first time from the shortcut. I understand that shouldn’t make any difference but just thought I’d mention it anyway. Thanks again.

Maybe the installer at the end opened Shotcut as an admin instead of your own user (it has to be run as an administrator or elevated user for the installing part) which might mistake some folder permissions? I’m on Windows 10 and had no issues leaving the checkbox checked.
