When I export the video becomes a smaller size with a black boarder

Help, before I go crazy. I have made a video clip recorded in landscape on my Galaxy s8 and uploaded it as explained. I added a soundtrack and an intro and outro. I then exported it 16:9 and 1920 X 1080. However, once the export had finished onto my laptop the video only came out in a small size. About 1/3 the size of what it should be, in the middle of the screen with a black boarder. Please help.

If there are no privacy concerns (full names in file names or paths used for example) you could upload the mlt file for us to take a look at for how to fix it.

Apart from that or if the work put into the project is easy to reproduce, can you start a brand new Shotcut session, drag in the main video, cut and delete most of it and export it, to see if it happens again? I think Shotcut uses the settings of the first imported file so that one might have been interpreted incorrectly by Shotcut, which might lead to you problem.

If you get the same problem with the main video file of your project, you can try changing the settings in the settings menu or you could try transcoding your video:
in shotcut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_SC0SY4mwE
or with handbrake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX2Hcxj8YK4

If you have used Shotcut on that computer in the past, it might be possible that old settings are able to have negative effects on defaults for example. In that case I would recommend deleting the registry and config files if there’s nothing important there for Shotcut.
