Five years ago I started this channel with less than 300 subscribers and no video editing background — just a regular person who couldn’t find good Shotcut tutorials and decided to make some. No sponsors, no brand deals. Just videos.
In this video I’m sharing what YouTube paid me for one of my very first tutorials — not to brag, but to show fellow Shotcut users that even a small channel like mine can earn something. And more than the money, what really got me was the watch time. I think you’ll find it encouraging.
Great video, Ben - you deserve all the success you get! Your videos are a real boon for Shotcut users. And thanks for the shoutout, BTW - that is so nice of you to give a nod to the many regular users on the forum who help out with others - and not to mention Dan and Brian who’s expertise and dedication knows no bounds! It really is a great community, isn’t it?
Personally, I’ve been busy with a few other things over the past months, so I haven’t been as active on here as I would like, but I still learn such a lot from this forum and check in daily.
I’m pretty much honoured to call you a friend, Ben! keep up the good work!
@bentacular thank you for all the help you have provided me on my shotcut / youtube journey. your video on how to make your own luts was quite beneficial. looking forward to more future videos!
Thanks for the mention in your video. Your work is far better than what I have accomplished with Shotcut. You’ve made it work as an income stream, which is really cool. I merely played with it like it was a toy. Being able to help one another is what all of this is about at the end of the day.
You guys are all way too humble. I know that you know more about Shotcut than I do. I am convinced that if you gave YouTube a serious go, you’d have tens to hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
In any case, thank you for contributing to the success of my channel!
Hi Ben! Sorry for being late to comment..
First, thanks for the shoutout!
But I agree with @Hudson555x. You’ve accomplished a lot more than I ever did and ever will.
You’re a great communicator, you shoot excellent footage, and you have a huge talent for editing.
Hey man no worries as long as you saw it! I appreciate the love and humility, but just so you know you have been the inspiration to why I created many of my tutorial videos. I couldn’t have done it without you!
