Like others I’ve posted, just our little vacation videos that we share with our family and friends as they inquire what we did on our trip.
No critiques needed, not a travel vlog, and just us goofing around.
2nd time with 4K and 5K video, and proxy. Always interesting mixing in different cameras and their video types.
There were areas we didn’t visit in our last Big Bend trip, that my wife wanted to cover, so we headed back out a year later. So glad we did as we had an amazing time with beautiful scenery and wildlife.
Thank you. My lingering frustration is not being able to clean the windshield often enough. It had rained during the previous week and even in the desert the insects were out.
Nicely done! i just learned about Big Bend in 2024 through Backcountry Discovery Routes. That black bear had to be close because I suspect you are not toting around large zoom lenses and that did not look very zoomed in electronically or through software.
It came onto the Chisos Mountain Lodge campus just as the sun was beginning to rise. We had parked there as it was the start of the Emory Peak hike. It was still dark out and I didn’t see that he had walked behind and along side me. My wife thought it was a stray dog, but then realized and tried to call after me in a gasp-whisper.
I backed off, fumbled for my camera, and took video, but it was too dark so it didn’t turn out. A group began to gather as it headed over to a building and climb the tree.
Our hike and climb was long but when we returned 7 hours later, he was still there messing around in the tree. The rangers even had time to put up cautionary tape around him as he brutalized the poor tree of most of its limbs and berries. They said it was very rare to see any of the bears in the area. One guide even said it had been 14 years for him and here this bear chose to hang around all day. It was quite the treat!
Thanks you so much for the trip through Big Bend and my memories. Changed quite a bit since '89. Paddled down the Rio Grande from Lajitas to Dryden crossing and only met 8 people during the 2 weeks of exploring the canyons. Have to dig out the old slides
Thanks for BIG BEND and BIG BEND II
