Use Your Logo or Any Image to Create Your Own Custom Transition on Shotcut

Courtesy of @jonray

Did you know you can use your own logo or any other image to create your own custom transition in Shotcut? Luckily, I’m surrounded by amazing and helpful Shotcut users, like @Jonray JR who find the most innovative ways to optimize Shotcut. Use any photo editing too to create your own custom shapes to use as transitions.

My Photoshop demo was a little quick and dirty. In reality, you should add more gradient steps in between to make the transition a little smoother. Instead of 4 - 5 “be” logos, I would’ve made 10.

This looks professional. Thanks @jonray and @bentacular

I never thought about it. Though I saw the tutorial of Jonray about LUMA files and have been using GIMP to make a lot of thumbnails recently.

Another good one ben ! Thanks. Thanks also to @jonray for planting the idea. It’s almost like Steven Spielberg shooting a movie with a George Lucas script :stuck_out_tongue:

You should be able to. Just make a shape and it should work as a custom transition

Ohhh yes.
It worked. Thank you so much sharing this @bentacular
And thanks to you as well @jonray.
It is working well now.
Thank you.

Thank you @Speeding_Snail. I just remembered a while ago I made this demo to showcase my custom “Luma” transitions.

@bentacular’s idea of creating transitions using your initials is cool! I never thought of doing that.

I have no original ideas. I just knock off other people’s ideas and provide a use case…so more like Quentin Tarantino.

Thanks for this @bentacular!

I was inspired to make some simple black and white gradients in GIMP and use them to transition between two colours in this demo:

hi @gustsships - these are great! If you feel like sharing here, it would be lovely to have the 1920 x 1080 luma images. You could zip them and upload them here. No worries if you’re not happy with sharing though!
