Upgrade fail in Linux Mint

I’m not sure if this is a bug or simply a non-functioning feature in Linux, but when I try to upgrade/update in Shotcut I get…nothing. The application tells me there is a newer version and to “click here” to upgrade, but when I do nothing happens.

I’m running a pretty old version (18.08.14) and have been ignoring this thru several versions, but would now like to get up-to-date with 18.12.23.

Sometimes on Linux, the app is not able to properly perform an open URL operation with the host environment. This is out of our control.
