Yes repeatable every time
It takes a second or two at the most to put a split at the playhead
But it takes a very long time, perhaps even up to a minute to undo that operation.
When I first experienced this I thought that Shotcut had siezed but learning now to be patient it does seem to work.
I’m afraid this is ‘normal’ for SC and due to the way it works.I am not exactly sure why it is so complicated for SC to do simple undo’s but it seems a cpu-consuming job. If you overlap clips for a transition this is even more complicated and after some more editing nearly impossible to undo. So you need to work around.
It depends on how many clips including sub clips are on the track and whether ripple all tracks was turned and ditto for every track if so. This is improved for the next version for which there is a beta.
