Unable to apply Mask: Draw (Glaxnimate)

Hi,
I am using Shotcut version 24.04.28 on my Mac.

I am trying to implement shape mask on my video. I can access Glaxnimate fine and in Glaxnimate I can perform the desired masking. I want to give the impression that text is begin drawn in. So my plan is to have a rectanglular box (not green like in video below) that pans across the screen. In the video below I made an example of this using a green box to simulate this action. As I mentioned before, in Glaxnimate, I was able to accomplish this. However, when I save, reload, and add the Mask: Apply filter the mask doesn’t seem to apply.

The video includes me adding the Text and the mask in case I am doing something wrong adding the text as well.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Mask: Apply only does something when you add another filter in between the 2 mask filters:

If you remove Mask: Apply then your “Mask” is defining a region of transparency like a window, but you have not defined what is on the side of the window you are looking through (something on a lower video track).

There are simpler ways than using Glaxnimate to draw a rectangle. It depends on if you are going for a typewrite effect or not because a typewrite effect across multiple lines is difficult. If you simply want to wipe the text like a transition you could add a color clip before it and overlap the color and text clips to make a transition and change the wipe in transition properties to Bar Horizontal.

Or you could use a Crop: Rectangle filter below your Text filter.
