Ubuntu expert questions

Hi, I hope it is ok to ask some questions about ubuntu. I use Ubuntu 24.04.3 on a PC which I only use for video and audio editing.

I have some trouble:

  • Microfone is a NT USB Mini Rode. This only works on the back panel USB ports. On the PC front ports, the audio is very bad. I thought the interface is digital. Or the data rate is worse on the front ports caused by longer cable or older usb version ? Any ideas why this happens ?
  • If i plug in a headphone in the line out of PC, i need to restart PC to get it working. Otherwise the PC doesn’t detect this new output device. Same for the input - every change needs a restart of PC. Why?
  • Is there are plugin / software for ubuntu which can change the output bass / mid / treble values? I have a set of monitoring speakers from behringer which have a massive bass. This is so unnatural and annoying. I need to reduce the bass output. Speakers are connected via USB. But I can also use the analog output if needed.

Sometimes the front ports don’t work well, depending on many factors (electromagnetic interference, bad cables). I think a good solution would be to buy a small USB extension cable and connect it to the rear USB ports.

Maybe automatic connection isn’t configured. I haven’t used Ubuntu in a while, so I don’t remember where to configure it. I use Mint, and it happens automatically.

In the “software center” search for “equalizer”, there will be several applications, find the most suitable and working one on your system.
