TS video

Hi,

**This is Eugene. **

Been a long time since I joined in.
Maybe 1 or 2 years ago?

I have a question for my ShortCut tool.

**When I am to open a video file on ShortCut, it can open **
the “TS” video file.

So, here’s my question…

**Once I imported the “TS” file in the timeline. **

**Let’s say I’m done editing **

**And I want to “EXPORT”. **

I click on “Export” tab and it listed all type of files
**to export the timeline. **

**But it doesn’t have “TS” listed. **
**Or is there a file to chose from that is **
a “TS” format???

**ShortCut can play “TS” file. **
**But you don’t have “TS” as an Export. **

Only MPEG2 AND MPEG4 files for video and audio.
But NO “TS”.

What can you do to help editors that prefer “TS”???

Also for the NOTE.

**I learned that TS also can stored Closed Captioned **
**for the Deaf-hearing impaired. Like myself. **

**I’m happy with that. **

**Wish that ShortCut provide Closed Captioned on **
**the video post. **

“CC”.

Hope all helps with answers.

Thank you,
Eugene

You can change Expert > Format to “mpegts”. Closed caption is not included in Shotcut, only subtitles. You can add audio descriptions to subtitles for the hearing impaired, but I do not believe the subtitles embed into TS. Rather, better formats such as mov, mp4, and matroska do support embedded subtitles. The video industry has largely moved off the inefficient transport stream format; I recommend you do as well.

Hi Dan, and everyone,

Thank you for your answers for finding “TS” in the Export part.
Now I have to pay close attention for “MPEGTS”. I’ll have to look
at that list of Exports again.

Nah, no thanks for streaming. I especially do NOT like streaming.
I do support open captioned for computer and on the internet.
But mostly I support CLOSED CAPTIONED on TV.
On HD TV and picture tube TV sets as well.

When use my digital satellite receiver, I can SAVE the TV shows or movies
from satellite channels onto a USB flash drive. Which they called it DVR.
And when I “playback” the movie or show or newscast from the USB
flash drive on the satellite receiver, it shows Closed Captioned on TV.
And I looked at what file format that the satellite receiver recorded on.
The file is “TS” format which support closed captioned when watching
the playback of what I recorded on satellite TV.
( Digital Free To Air satellite channel. Or FTA )

And I tried it out to see whatever would Shortcut play “TS” file
from my USB flash drive that was connected to the satellite receiver.

Yup, I can watch it on Shortcut window.
The TS file is larger because I believe it captured the “CC”.

Please understand me that I’m from part of the Deaf-blinds community.
And we the community always relies on Closed Captioning.
Most of the legally blind or low vision folks watches on
TV picture tube.
TOSHIBA 27 inch picture tube TV, model 27AFX54 does has
a 16.9 option on picture tube screen by remote control.

So please accept me with low vision and hearing impaired.

Decade ago, I made a video with open-captioned by using
Adobe Premiere 6.0 That was a lot of work by going word by word
for adding open-captioned and format it onto a DVD for the
Lighthouse for the Blinds in Seattle.

Thank you Dan for the answers.

You’re all welcome to comment on my post or posts.

Thanks,
Eugene

Hi Dan and everyone,

I’m back again…

I looked up on “Export” for “mpegts”.

There is NO “mpegts” listed on my Shorcut.

All I see is “MPEG”, “MPEG4”, “MPEG4 - Part 2 A”, MPEG4 - Part 2 SP"

What am I missing???

Every time when I open Shortcut it offers download new version of shortcut.
But I got the first one downloaded for free. That was maybe in 2023.
And IF I have to now, today, it might be charge for a new version??

Okay, just letting you know I do NOT have “mpegts” on “Export” option.

Hope all helps with answers.

Thanks again,
Eugene

Everyone always has “mpegts” in Shotcut. You are looking in the wrong place. Again, it is the “Format” field.

I got it!!! Understood!!!

See I was clicking on the “Export” tab at the TOP tool bar instead the
way you showed. Oops.
YES, “Export” starts on the “Timeline”.
I got it!!!

And I found “mpegts”,

I also able to download your demo video so that I can
review it again for future reference. IF I forget.

The video helps and screenshot helps.

Thank you!!!

Those do the same thing! The key thing is most fields are hidden until you click
Advanced.

Hey Dan,

I screwed up one little piece.

The video you showed, you clicked on “Export” right on top of
the “Timeline”. Yes I had that until I somehow with a mouse screwed
up by making it “disappeared”!! I only see “Source” and “Project” on top
of the TimeLine. But I can still se “Export” at the top tool bar anyway.
How do I bring back “Export” on top of the Timeline.
At least I can import the video file on the timeline.

I don’t think it’s a big deal because I still have “Export” tab at the top tool bar.
But I noticed on top of the timeline there was and now disappeared.

How do I do it??

Thanks for your time, Dan.
