This is a short Shotcut promo video created entirely within Shotcut. I wanted to highlight its key features, specifically color grading, rotoscoping, and text animations, along with a showcase of recent bug fixes.
This is either very subtle sarcasm or great naivety.
Please elaborate. Everything in the video appeared to be accurate. If the tool serves the user’s purpose, how are they naive for liking it?
Thanks for sharing.
I see you also create Shotcut (and Glaxnimate) tutorials
The only criticism I have of the video above is this:
Too little time to read the text. We shouldn’t have to pause the video to read a paragraph.
Thanks, You are right on that. I will try to be slow and be better next time.
Ok.
Color correction. I didn’t see any difference in the “before” and “after” videos. This is the author’s mistake, such things should be done through split screens if the difference is not significant. “Color levels” are the same everywhere, I don’t switch to “premier pro” to use this, but if you need to replace the color to make a mask or some interesting aura, then you have to switch to other software.
Rotoscopy. Does anyone know the meaning of this term? I had to look it up online. In After Effects, it’s very close to “rotobrush”, but it’s not the same at all. In Shotcut, you can’t even copy animation keys, and complex maxi can only be created in a third-party program called Glaxnimate. This program works just as crookedly for me as After Effects, but between the two, I’ll choose After Effects, since I haven’t figured out the interface in Glaxnimate, among other things. How do I mask in glaxnimate frame by frame? - #2 by brian They still haven’t answered the question here, and I’m interested in it myself, I sometimes do this in After Effects. I didn’t watch the video, but I read the author’s answer.
Text animation. The author is not very well-read. Before doing anything, you need to see how others have done it, at least like I have in some videos https://youtu.be/FWTgsHjZOTQ, here at the very end I made such animation of text in “premier pro” in a couple of minutes, using a third-party plugin. The rest of the video, I edited in “Shotcut”, also the transition at the beginning through blinking, also there through a plugin. This video is posted in my topic. In shortcut you can do this, but it will take much more time. But if you need to change the text and make the same animation, again in “Shotcut”, it will take a lot of time.
“Shotcut” has a number of advantages, that’s why I use it. I was able to work in Windows 7 with 11 “Shotcut” windows open, the interface is better, it supports more video formats. Well, the main advantage for me was that the latest version ran on Windows 7, now this advantage is gone, although that version suits me. And also the “Mask from file” filter, in “premier pro”, I did not find a similar function, in After Effect this can be done but much more difficult and it is done differently, there are advantages and disadvantages.
The cameraman’s work on the video is normal, the footage is well shot.
