These features are a must have for 2026!

I have been a vehement user of Shotcut since 2019. This piece of software is AMAZING. Sure, it has its kinks, but overall it is reliable, cheap (you lit can’t beat free lol) and has plenty of professional effects, and it is almost perfectly optimized (at least for editing software in general). Overall, I love this software, but even though it is great, I feel like it still misses some “basic” features that other editing programs have:

  1. Automatic Keyframes

→ In Adobe PP, you can select an object and let the software automatically keyframe everything

  1. Automatic subtitles

→ I’ve seen there have been features implemented that kinda resemble automatic subtitles, but it’s really not fully worked out yet (or maybe I am too stupid lol)

  1. Automatic volume adjustment

→ This is more of an idea: Select a decibel level, and Shotcut automatically adjusts all (selected) audio to your chosen preset

Those are features I frequently look for and would love to see in Shotcut. Anyway, keep up the great job!

Edit: I found the bulk volume apply level option. So let’s cross out 3. Automatic volume adjustment
Edit 2: However, this is just a workaround. I really mean selecting a decibel level, and the program analyzes the audio waves and automatically adjusts them.

Shotcut has 2 Normalize filters, that analyse and adjust the audio loudness.
