The Gain Filter appears to be restricted +24. Why?

Hi folks,
I am trying to increase the volume on some very quiet recordings and the gain filter will only go to +24. Is there any other way to increase the volume?

I’m not in front of my computer, so I can’t test it, but what about adding a second Gain filter?
It will probably add unwanted distortion, but it’s worth a try.

If the built in gain isn’t enough then an external program like Audacity is probably your best bet.

Adding a second gain filter is the solution. It won’t add any more noise than a single gain filter if it allowed a higher gain increase. Regardless of how you do it (in Shotcut or an external program), adding more than 24dB of gain will also increase the noise floor.
