Suggesting that there be a key which toggles the white text frame and center dot on and off when working with text. This would be very helpful in composing titles. It would be nice to see titles without these visual aids in the way.

Just click the track header, this will let you view the ‘preview’ without seeing the text bounding box…

Unless I’m doing something wrong, doing this permanently marries the text to the underlying video rather than toggling the dot/frame on and off.
Certainly does nothing of the sort, Chris. It simply de selects the clip to which the filter is applied allowing the view you wish for. Selecting the clip returns the bounding box. In any case, nothing is permanent until you export/encode.
