In addition to a basic rectangle, I suggest a) controlling the shape and b) edge color control.
a) At least rounding corners if not circle/oval shapes, etc.
b) Support for color edges, much as can be done with the text lettering. As it is, the background looks …um… unfinished. It sort of bleeds into the image behind it.
c) And, what the heck, textured background, too?
