Stuttering of imported video and audio in Shotcut latest version

What is your operating system?
Windows 11

What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)?
25.03.29

Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
Here is the log: Log- Shotcut.txt - Google Drive

Whenever I import a video or audio in Shotcut for video editing there is stuttering. I updated Shotcut software and still the same problem. When I run the videos with VLC media player outside of Shotcut there is no problem, they run fine.
But whenever I import ands preview a video in Shotcut there is a lot of micro-cuts and stuttering.
Please note that when I export the final video after rendering there is no problem.
Its only during preview in Shotcut.

Hi @Theoask

I’m not an expert at reading those log files, so correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks to me like you’ve added a lot of filters.

Do you also experience stuttering when there are no filters applied?

Hell. I have not applied any filters on the new Shotcut project and I updated to the latest version and just ran it for the first time and imported the video.
I will check, but it doesn’t look like there are filters.

Not an expert either, but the application log lists and debugs all filters.

It is well known that Shotcut playback is not optimal. It does not use hardware decoding for reasons you can read about in the FAQ. To ensure smooth playback the current Video Mode needs to match the source video. Proxy and preview scaling are remedies. All of these topics are well-covered here and on the web site.

Try this:

  • Restart Shotcut and do not open a project
  • Change Settings > Video Mode = Automatic
  • Open a video in the Source player.

Does it play better than what you experienced previously?
