Hello,
Stain remover.
What happened to this filter ?
How can I replace this filter ?
Blur filter is not convenient for what I would like to do.
Thank you for your help.
What is your language ?
French ?
Oui French, Why is my english so bad about this filter(stain remover)
No, I donât judge your English.
Just to inform you that the French translation has been updated and that the old name âNettoyeur de tachesâ has been replaced by âMasquer Logoâ.
I wonder why it was changed. This filter is not only used to mask logos. It can be useful for a lot of other things. One example : On a blue sky, it can remove a spot caused by dust on a camera sensor.
Thank you for your reply, I should have been looking farther than the tip off my nose.
I also wonder now that I know the new name.
Itâs also quicker to use Spot removal than Mask: Simple Shape + Mosaic (or Blur) + Mask: Apply to blur something like a face or a licence plate.

Itâs not easy to find a translation that suits everyone. Sometimes the location of the word or sentence is also important (I am thinking mainly of the dialogs of the different filters), if the translation is too long it affects the layout.
Example: in the new âSize, Position & Rotationâ filter, the real translation of â(Fill only)â is â(Mode Remplir seulement)â which would look like this
MusicalBox , @Epsilon85 , to come back to the âStain Removerâ, what do you propose?
The translation must also have some connection with the original English term. If Iâm using Shotcut in French and come looking for forum threads about the âMasquer Logoâ filter, as keywords Iâll use what I think is the equivalent term in English, something like âmask logoâ or âhide logoâ maybe. Very few discussions will relate to what Iâm looking for.
The problem here is that in English they have the perfect word for this filter: Spot. Word that can mean many things: A stain, a point, a place, a surface etc âŠ
I think we were on the right track with the word âtacheâ. How about âRetrait de tacheâ or âEffaceur de tacheâ? This is what seems to me to be the closest to âSpot Removerâ. Google translates effaceur de tache as âStain removerâ
I edited the title âremocal a removalâ
The issue of translations in some things can be complicated, but I do think that in this case it is very important because there is no extensive documentation on the filters in various languages.
For a basic home user, âstain removalâ is more practical (although perhaps not as accurate)
âEffaceur de tachesâ seems very good to me.
The first letters may also be important because the filters are sorted alphabetically. This makes it possible to group them together.
Thatâs why we could also name it âFlou: Effaceur de tachesâ so that it can be grouped with the other filters that start with âFlouâ.
I donât think the Spot Remover filter is a blur tool Namna. Itâs more like Photoshopâs spot healing brush tool. The tool uses the color and luminosity of the surrounding area to hide the unwanted spot.
Maybe itâs for that reason that in the English version of Shotcut itâs not grouped with the other blur filters.
You are right.
Anyway, between the E of âEffaceurâ and the F of âFlouâ there are not many people.
I made the modification request for âEffaceur de tachesâ on Transifex.
Cats use this technique everyday when they hide the little gift they leave in the sand box
Thank you for your comments and opinions on the âLogo maskâ filter.
Indeed the translation remains a problem depending on the language, in any case the translation must be composed of short and explicit words which could be for the French âsimple maskâ and âadvanced maskâ where âdedicated maskâ is to be seen .
Sincerely yours.
