What is your operating system?
Windows 11
What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)?
25.01.25
Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
The problem I have is with the “Split At Playhead” feature. Whenever I use this feature, for some reason, it sends my video back to the beginning, instead of splitting at the correct frame.
BEFORE SPLITTING (Frame I want to split at):
AFTER SPLITTING (Beginning frame??):
I have no clue why this happens.
This is a very basic and common operation that basically works very reliably. I suppose your source video file format does not support frame accurate seeking, and it needs to be converted. You can try it and see if it helps. With the clip selected, do Properties > Convert and choose the default “good” option. Wait for the job to complete and Shotcut will replace the timeline clips with the converted version.
Unfortunately didn’t work after converting.

What is the frame rate of your project? See Timeline > Output > Properties
And the frame rate of the source file? Select a clip and see Properties
Weird, I am at a loss and unable to reproduce your problem. Try starting over. Restart Shotcut, do not open the project, add the converted clip to the timeline, and split it somewhere. Result?
Separately, does the converted clip play as you expect it with the video changing? Curiously, all of timeline thumbnails in your screenshot above are the same image.
Started a new project, imported the video and it works as expected.
Weirdly enough, after adding the effect, “Speed: Forward only”, the same bug starts to happen. Splitting breaks again.
The converted clip does play regularly, but cutting it is just wonky.
You just answered yourself. You were asked to provide steps when creating the bug report, but you did not mention this. This is a little known quirk . Speed filters are time-based and with keyframes. When you split, you are changing the timing of keyframes. Split does not about speed- and time-based filters, and these filters do not know about Split. Maybe we will improve upon this in the future, but in the meantime, if you do not need to change speed over time use Properties > Speed as a workaround, or add the Speed filters after mostly done with edits to the clips you are affecting.
Oof, apologies
Fixed it by using the effect and exporting each video by themselves, which probably wasn’t the greatest way to do it, but it got the job done.
