Snap goes past the border of the item it snaps to

What is your operating system?
Linux (Ubuntu)

What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)? Is it 32-bit?
64bit
22.09.23

Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
When you move something on the timeline, it immediately snaps past the end of the closest item instead of attaching to it. Visually it’s a jerk of the selected fragment jumping a few frames and cutting into the previous segment.
This usually happens when I split a video file on a track, then add pictures on the same track and audio on a separate audio track.
The workaround is to disable snap and position the piece manually.

As always, a mock project to play around

5.5.2805.38 is not a valid version.

To find what version of Shotcut you use:

The end of a clip snaps to things as well.

the behavior is inconsistent. Sometimes it snaps exactly to the end of the previous segment, which is desired. But in rare cases it snaps past the previous segment boundary, actually cutting it in the process or creating a transition.
Also if you click to select other items on the timeline, especially the audio track, the snap may work flawlessly.

Any news on this please? It is still happening, both Lin and Win.
Make a 2-track project, V1 and A1, have 2 pictures and a long audio file.
Place the audio file on A1, and a picture on V1 so that the picture ends somewhere in the middle of A1.
Cut the A1 somewhere near the end of the picture, drag the right part a couple pixels.
Now place the second picture next to the first one on V1 and try moving them towards each other to close the gap between the pictures above the gap on the audio. They will snap past the gap in the audio in various weird ways, either cutting or creating transitions.
