I used to use this feature and it worked very well, but with some automatic update, another option was added – the second one from the top – and it no longer works as it used to.

I used to set it to cut each clip to a specific duration, but now I can’t get that to happen anymore and I don’t know how to do it.

I used to adjust the “image duration” and all the clips would have the same duration. Now I try to do the same and it seems that each clip has a different duration, and in the new “video/audio duration” option I don’t know what to put. I’ve already tried and changed it, but I don’t see any change. At least not the change I wanted and expected. I don’t know how to get around this issue.

Audio/Video duration sets the maximum duration of an audio/video clip. If the duration is less, including any trimming you did of the playlist item, it will be the lesser duration. It is easy: an image is fundamentally different than an audio/video clip. An image has an arbitrary duration or single frame depending on how you perceive it. An audio/video clip has a fundamental duration. Now, you can control the duration of each type of media. To get the old behavior put the same value into both duration fields. If you still have trouble learn how to edit what it generates.
