When opening AVI files shotcut increases the playback speed. Files paly at normal speed on al other applications. But after modifications with shutcut the speed remains faster than before. I recognize that the playback rate can be adjusted, but is there a reason that this is happening in the first place and can it be prevented?

Just upgraded to 18.10.08, but had the same problem with the previous version.
No modifications. The increase in playback speed seems to occur when I open the file in shotcut and playback begins.
This is a file I converted over to an avi.
Plays fine for me.
This is not nearly enough information, and I do not know how to reproduce it. Shotcut is not going to work perfectly with every file. Sometimes, you need to convert it. After you open it, go to Properties > menu > Convert to Edit-friendly… with problem files like this.
