Hi guys,
I stumbled across a problem today where my Shotcut says “File name non-existent” when I try to export my video file.
I didn’t change anything about the settings, I always used it the same way for the same type of file.
I already tried exporting other files but this same problem occurs every time I want to set the export destination and the intended file name.
Has anyone encountered the same problem and has an idea how to solve it?
Where exactly do you see this and what operating system do you use? I searched the Shotcut program code for “non-existent” and there were 0 results.
intended file name
What is the name? If it has special characters you can try something very simple.
Maybe the problem is a missing file in the project. If you delete or move files that you included into the project Shotcut does not know and auto-magically adjust. You cannot do that. Sometimes people drag something from a web page into Shotcut, and the browser creates a temporary download that eventually goes away. Restart Shotcut, reopen the project, and fix the missing files that it reports.
This error occurs when I click “export file” and give it a name in the folder where it’s meant to be exported to. I have a screenshot attached (sorry, it’s in German!)
There are no special characters in the intended file name, just a hyphen as always.
I always have just one file in that kind of project so this cannot be the problem.
I even tried a different cutting program which had the same error upon exporting the file to the same folder I chose in Shotcut.
Also I tried exporting different video files from Shotcut and the other program, and none of those worked. They all produced the same error.
Funnily I found a temporary solution while just testing around. Shotcut is able to export the files directly onto my desktop.
So I think it’s not a problem with Shotcut itself.
This is in the FAQ basically, you have turned on a Windows feature called “protected folder access” in English. It is in the Windows Settings. Maybe you can search for something similar in your language to find it.
