Shotcut stopped working, can't edit

Shotcut stopped working, can’t edit. Can’t drag video to edit.
I edited a number of videos today, all fine.
Next time I tried, I loaded the video, but when I dragged it to edit, it didn’t stay there. It showed a white circle with a red line through it, like a no entry sign.

Hi @Chris1

You’ll have to provide more information than that.
What do you mean by stopped working ?

It doesn’t open at all ? If so, do you get an error message of some sort ?
It opens but freezes ?
It opens but you can’t import media files ?
etc…

Are you sure you are dragging the video to the Timeline ?
Someone posted a similar issue not long ago… He (or she) was dragging it to the Keyframes panel by mistake.

A) Upgrade to the latest version of Shotcut
B) When this happens restart Shotcut
C) If it still happens reboot your computer.

Thank you.
I’ve already done that twice.
It works … but in a different order, very strange.
The first thing I used to do was, open file, then drag it down to edit.
Then go to filter.
Now, when I drag it down, nothing happens, just the ‘no entry’ sign.
But if I go to filter, fade in, … it’s there !!!

Oh yes, to the timelime.
I’d done about 20 x 5 minute videos in this session,
then left it for a couple of hours.
When I tried again, this happened.
