Opened Shotcut one day and it spontaneously stopped playing audio from any media. I can see the audio meters moving as if there were audio but nothing comes out. Details:
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2
Intel i5-9400F, RTX3060, 64gb ram
I have tested this on Shotcut 25.08 and 25.07
I have been able to eliminate the following possibilities:
- it isn’t the my headset or USB port, works fine in other applications & tested 2nd headset
- it isn’t my PC, it plays audio fine in other applications
- tried all three options in Player > Audio API (no luck)
- verified nothing filter-wise or clip-wise was muted
- verified the media clips themselves were fine outside of Shotcut
- verified no proxies to rule out a corrupted proxy
- tried multiple projects and multiple versions of Shotcut
- no PC sound settings were changed that would cause a problem
- verified no other application had stolen control of my audio devices
- verified output devices were set correctly in windows (could not find a setting for audio output devices in Shotcut itself)
- reinstalled Shotcut including removing the registry settings and starting over… and tested different versions 25.08 and 25.07
- updated nvidia GPU drivers to rule out an outdated driver just for the heck of it
- verified Realtek audio drivers were up to date
I am at a loss and I have important projects upcoming. Does anyone have any ideas? It seems as though Shotcut itself refuses to play any audio, and as you can see above I have ruled out just about every other possible problem. I just opened the program as normal one day and boom… no audio on anything even though the meters move.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards.
