Selective Pitch Audio Filter

Hi, I am looking for a nonlinear pitch filter to downpitch high children’s and female’s voices while maintaining lower men’s voices. Thus, a kind of frequency normalization.

Just an idea how this could be achieved, with virtual tracks and cascade filters, but I don’t know if this is possible directly in Shotcut:

  1. detach the audio track
  2. create a virtual copy
  3. apply a low pass filter on one original
  4. apply a high pass filter on the copy
  5. apply a pitch filter on the result of (4)
  6. mix the results of (3) and (5) together

This complex filter is supposed to sound much more natural than just a low pass filter. Is there a way?

Shotcut has low-pass, high-pass, and pitch filters. Did you try your idea?

Sure I have, but the outcome is not satisfying, as mentioned. Here is the explanation:

Cutting off the high pitch part of high voices makes the voices sound flat and thin, because high voices lack of low pitch.

The pitch filter is linear, which means it effects high and low pitch voices the same amount, thus making deep voices even deeper, which is not wanted.
