I’m a part-time user and am still learning but have figured out how to create a scrolling title page at the end of my video. Once this was done I wanted to freeze the last page for a few seconds and have done that according to a member video. What I did was:
Placed the cursor at the exact point that I wanted the scrolling text to freeze
Took a screenshot, saved it, and moved it into the Playlist
Entered said clip into a separate video track
Dragged that clip up to the exact spot into the original track where the scrolling text was to freeze
As planned, the original work scrolls from the bottom of the screen, freezes at the exact spot and the inserted clip works perfectly. Playing the entire video in ShotCut shows that everything works exactly as I had hoped for.
Unfortunately, playing the resultant MP4 the scrolling text starts at the very bottom of the page and appears to almost scroll horizontally instead of vertically so none of the original text is shown.
I’m using ShotCut v22.01.30 on an HP computer running Windows 10.
Have I created this incorrectly or have I just missed something?
How did you create the scrolling text? Is it on a PNG image created in Photoshop or Gimp? Or did you use the Text: Rich filter?
Did you create the scroll manually (with keyframes) or did you use one of the Text filter presets?
It would help f you could upload a screen capture of your entire Shotcut window with the filters panel active.
the scrolling text starts at the very bottom of the page
Isn’t that what you want? As far as I know, movie credit all start at the bottom of the page (screen).
appears to almost scroll horizontally instead of vertically
If it’s possible, I’d like to see that MP4.
I was somewhat vague in the details of how I created it and will attempt to be more specific here.
Using Rich Text I created all of the scrolling text and had it scrolling up from the bottom. Then, positioning the playhead at the exact point that I wanted to freeze, I exported a frame and saved it to the folder. This frame was then inserted onto the exact point in the Rich Text track that was to be frozen. This works and displays perfectly in ShotCut but doesn’t work in the Exported MP4 file.
There is known bug in. Text: Rich on certain screen sizes, resolution, and/or display scale setting in Windows (e.g. 150%) that is way down in some libraries I do not write that I have not figured out how to fix. What is you display scale setting in Windows?
Thanks for the suggestion. The Display Scale Setting was checked and verified to be at 100%. Am going to try other options to freeze the screen as you can’t always believe what you see on the internet!
OK. I’ve learned my lesson: Don’t believe everything you read on the internet!
Was creating the freeze effect according to a YouTube ShotCut video which, apparently, doesn’t work. Perhaps it did at one time on a different version but doesn’t any more.
To fix the issue I merely took the Exported Frame that I wanted frozen and placed it in a new track above the scrolling text at the correct spot.
It is difficult to understand what is wrong, but I see something in your video and not sure why that happened. Honestly, what is wrong is the whole approach of “freezing the last page” by grabbing an image somehow to freeze. What you should be doing is editing the keyframes of the Text: Rich filter. Switch to full/advanced keyframes by clicking the button with the stopwatch icon next to the Position and Background size. Add a keyframe where you want it to freeze and change the Y position to 0. Click the keyframe at the end of the clip and also make its Y position 0.
